Bodyguard 545 Epidural Pump

Setup
Standard epidural infusion solution: 0.1% bupivacaine with fentanyl 2
µg/ml, 100ml
1. Spike the bag
2. Load the giving set: open the lower hatch on the pump and insert the blue ring and black insert snugly into the pump. Then close the lower hatch and close and lock the box (it is in a locked box because it is a controlled drug).

3. Push and hold 'ON/OFF' for 2 seconds to switch on the pump. After a brief self-check, screen A appears. Press START/OK and the machine asks for a level 1 code (screen B). Enter the code and press START/OK.

4. A prime option appears, press START/OK to prime. Renter the level 1 code to start priming (6ml).

5. Now select protocol. Re enter level 1 code. Standard protocol is 5ml bolus, 5ml/hr infusion (max 7ml/hr), 10 minute lockout. Max 20ml/hr total volume. 'OK' your way through the menu.

6. 'OK' to start infusion

7.To return to the menu at any time, press STOP, then press and hold 'STOP/NO' (e.g. to modify protocol/change bag/clinician bolus).
